City of Barrie, Cultural Plan and Department of Culture

Novita worked with Ted Handy and Associates Architects to create a broad-based cultural plan for the City of Barrie.

Widely regarded as the benchmark for cultural planning in Ontario, this cultural plan envisioned culture as having a relationship with all aspects of the delivery of services by the municipality and all municipal departments.

The plan was developed in a close working relationship with City of Barrie staff and it culminated in the establishment of a Cultural Development Office (modeled on their Economic Development Office).
