Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum
The Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum is the custodian and steward of the history of the local community. Its collection of over 13,000 historical artifacts, of which over 2,000 are displayed in authentic settings in preserved heritage buildings, tells the story of Whitchurch Township and the Village of Stouffville through exhibits and permanent collections. The Museum offers educational programming to primary grades and curates rotating exhibits and special events for the general public.
Novita prepared a report for the expansion of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Museum and related urban and economic development in the historic hamlet of Vandorf where the Museum is located. We proposed an approach to business planning for the Museum which uses the strengths of its mandate and narrative to develop a significant new level of public participation in the Museum’s programs and to stimulate economic development in the Vandorf community. Taking direction from the Town’s slogan of “Country, close to the City,” we proposed an agriculture and food theme which is unique in the Museum’s market area.
